Read Around the World
This year at Maple Hill we will be holding a weekly reading contest.  To enter the contest, students will "visit" the featured continent by reading a related book and writing a basic book report.  Books can be folktales, biographies, books about animal from that continent, country books, craft books, etc.   Check out the display for some book suggestions.  Students earn raffle tickets for each report submitted.  More difficult books receive more tickets.  Each Friday we will pull one raffle ticket and have one "Reader of the Week".   Our first drawing will be on October 3rd.   The Reader of the Week will receive a certificate and will be able to share their book on morning announcements.  The more you read, the better your chances at winning!

National Library Week's
Read Around the World Celebration
We celebrated National Library Week with a Read Around the World Celebration.  Each class shared a folktale and a craft from around the world.  We then had a Cultural Celebration that included: a showcase of student work, students dressed in traditional clothing from their heritage, and of course, some wonderful food!  Participation awards, special awards, and our grand prize winner from our weekly reading contest were announced.  A special thanks to Mrs. Wamser's class for their fabulous contributions. Here are some pictures of this event.
